We are about to receive a large number of Danes (possibly over thirty!) from a puppy mill in Lakeland that is being shut down by the State of Florida due to poor living conditions. We are in great need of dog food. Pedigree is our preferred brand, but we can mix donations of other brands with it. Cash donations are also greatly appreciated, and help us with the Danes' medical needs. Arrrgyle (see the Available Danes page) is the first of the dogs from the puppy mill. Considering his problems, we expect significant medical expense with this group.
Great Dane Rescue has a table at Petsmart on certain Saturdays. If you would like to volunteer your time to educate people and pass out information and applications, it would be greatly appreciated. Contact Linda Drag for more information.
Linda went public with the story of Jesse the abused puppy in January, 2000. Great Dane Rescue of Tampa Bay, Inc. was featured in every major newspaper in the Tampa Bay area. We're partial to the coverage in the Brandon News, because we got a color photo on page one.
